The importance of Law and Policy for incidents of Corporate Crime

Summary

The present thesis includes a systematic review on Corporate Criminal Liability and a comparative analysis of economic crime prevention in the European Union and the United States. It analyses main aspects of Corporate Crime and its deterrence mechanisms such as money laundering, corporate fraud and competition/antitrust violations. What is more it employs both literature and empirical techniques in order to introduce legal suggestions that could promote Corporate Crime prevention and Corporate Criminal Liability reforms. This multidisciplinary topic draws elements from many different legal fields including Corporate Law, Criminal Law/Criminology and Comparative Law. The overall study of Corporate Crime has space for originality as it is constantly evolving. It is furthermore closely interlinked with contemporary global issues of paramount importance like International Development and International Judicial Cooperation. This study does not aspire to describe a given situation but rather to contribute to the legal science through its conclusions and proposals.
