CULS Lecture: 'A New UK Bill of Rights?'

A Lecture by Phillippe Sands QC, member of the Commission on a Bill of Rights

Phillippe Sands QC will speak on the topic of 'A New UK Bill of Rights?'.

Described by Legal 500 2010 as a Public International Law barrister not "really challenged by anyone for the first tier", Philippe Sands QC is a Founder Member of Matrix Chambers, regular commentator on the BBC and Professor of Law at UCL. He has been involved in leading cases including those concerning Augusto Pinochet and the Guantanamo and Belmarsh detainees. In January 2013, he will be releasing the updated version of Lawless World, his acclaimed account of the crucial importance of international law.

Mr Sands is a member of the Commission on a Bill of Rights which is due to report at the end of this year. He will address this topic as well as the more general position of the individual and the state under national and international law.
