Professor Marc Weller, is the Director of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law. He has served as legal advisor in a wide range of peace-processes, ranging from Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia in Europe, to Sudan and Somalia in Africa, and Burma, Sri Lanka and the Maldives in the Asia/Pacific region. During the period of the Arab Spring of 2011-12, he served as Senior Mediation Expert in the Department of Political Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat, supporting peace negotiations and transitions in the Middle East and North Africa. This included the events in Libya, the mission of Kofi Annan on Syria, and the successful transition in Yemen. He is the author, editor or co-editor of some 25 books in this area.
