Thursday, 26 May 2016 - 5.30pm

The Institute of Criminology, University of CambridgeSpeaker: Professor John Braithwaite, Distinguished Professor, RegNet (Regulatory Institutions Network), Australian National University

What are the niches where restorative justice is most useful? With violence that is rather serious and with situations of anomie is one answer. Two types of anomie are considered – normlessness, where it is not clear what the rules of the game are, and situations where it is not clear who is in charge. Evaluations of gang programs like "Operation Ceasefire" will be reinterpreted in these terms. This is part of a rethinking how crime prevention is relevant to war prevention and vice versa.

The 19th Annual Nigel Walker Lecture starts at 5.30pm, and will be held in the Basement Seminar Room, Institute of Criminology, Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge, CB3 9DA.

BOOKING IN ADVANCE IS ESSENTIAL. If you wish to book a seat, please contact: Joanne Garner, on: jf225@cam.ac.uk
