Christopher Forsyth Appointed Honorary ProfessorshipProfessor Christopher Forsyth has been appointed to an Honorary Professorship in the University of Stellenbosch. Honorary professors are appointed to "give recognition for their proven specialized expertise and/or their eminence in their profession and field of study". Professor Forsyth has been an extraordinary professor in Stellenbosch for over ten years.

Christopher Forsyth is Professor of Public Law and Private International Law. He is a leading international scholar in the fields of Administrative Law and Private International Law. His publications include Private International Law (1981), In Danger for their Talents: A study of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of South Africa from 1950 (1985), Judicial Review and the Constitution (2000) (as editor), Private International Law (5th ed, 2012) and Administrative Law (11th ed, 2014) (co-authored with W Wade). He has a long record of effective involvement at the highest level in the administration of several important public bodies and has a flourishing part-time practice as a barrister.

Professor Forsyth reacted to the appointment: "I am very pleased by this honour and see it as recognition for my work on Private International Law in Southern Africa as well as on Administrative and Constitutional Law."
