Cambridge in London

The Faculty holds regular seminars which provide an opportunity for some of the Faculty's alumni and friends to meet current staff and hear presentations about the Faculty's ongoing work

Allen & Overy Lecture

The sixth Cambridge Allen & Overy Lecture was delivered by Professor Simon Deakin, on the topic of 'The evolution of vicarious liability' on Wednesday 8 November 2017.  The next lecture is due later in 2018.

The sixth Cambridge Freshfields lecture will be delivered sometime in 2019. The previous lecture was delivered on 8 May 2018 by Professor Stephen Smith (Faculty of Law, McGill University) who discussed the topic of 'Rights, Wrongs, and Injustices: Taking Remedies Seriously'.

The 2017-18 Mackenzie Stuart Lecture was delivered on 1 March 2018 by The Rt Hon Dominic Grieve MP, speaking on the topic 'What Price Sovereignty? Brexit and Human Rights'.

David Williams Lecture

The 2018 Sir David Williams lecture was due to be held on Friday 24 February 2018 to be delivered by The Rt Hon. Beverley McLachlin who was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada 2000-2017, and was to be entitled 'Where Are We Going? Reflections on the Rule of Law in a Dangerous World'. Unfortunately this had to be cancelled.

Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law

The CIPIL Annual International Intellectual Property Lecture

Established in 2006 from the Herchel Smith bequest to Emmanuel College and held at the college itself, this lecture series invites one eminent scholar of international intellectual property law to Cambridge each year. Attendance is by invitation only and always draws a large audience of scholars, practitioners and judges from a variety of locations across the UK.

The 2017 Annual International Intellectual Property Lecture was held on Friday 14 March 2017. The lecture was delivered by Professor Niva Elkin-Koren, of Haifa Center for Law and Technology, and was entitled 'Fair Use by Design'.  The next annual lecture will be announced shortly.
