Cambridge University Law SocietySpeaker: Richard Susskind

CULS is delighted to present a lecture by Professor Richard Susskind OBE, one of the leading voices on the transformation of legal work by technology. Will artificial intelligence replace lawyers? What does the “lawyer of the future” look like? Hear his views on these pressing questions and more. Come with questions and pose them to him directly during the Q&A segment, or during the drinks reception right after. Aspiring barristers may be particularly interested in his views on online courts. All with an interest in the future of legal services (students and faculty) are very welcome.

Professor Susskind has been IT adviser to the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales since 1998, and President of the Society for Computers and Law since 2011. He has written and edited numerous books, including Expert Systems in Law (OUP, 1987), The Future of Law (OUP, 1996), Transforming the Law (OUP, 2000), The Susskind Interviews: Legal Experts in Changing Times (Sweet & Maxwell, 2005), The End of Lawyers? Rethinking the Nature of Legal Services (OUP, 2008), Tomorrow’s Lawyers (2013), and has written around 150 columns for The Times.

Open to all.
