Cambridge University Law SocietySpeaker: Isabel Buchanan

CULS is excited to present a guest lecture by Isabel Buchanan, a leading human rights and public law barrister at Blackstone Chambers. She will be discussing her experience of public interest law while working on death row in Pakistan, detailing what she learned from it and the challenges it posed. Her book on the subject (Trials: On Death Row in Pakistan) won the Saltire Scottish First Book Award, and was the Economist and Spectator Book of the Year 2016.

This event may be of particular interest to students interested in public interest law, criminal defence, and the rule of law in post-colonial legal systems.

Open to all.
