Tuesday, 2 November 2021 - 1.00pm
Location:
Faculty of Law, G24

Speaker: Professor Sarah Paterson (LSE)

Sarah Paterson will be discussing her new monograph Corporate Reorganization Law and Forces of Change (OUP 2020). In the book Sarah adopts a comparative US/UK approach to undertake a detailed review of six forces of change which have developed in the finance and non-financial corporate fields from the 1980s. In her presentation she will analyse the ways in which these forces of change have affected the nature of the corporate reorganization case, and the new ways in which participants in the corporate reorganization case have mobilized and adapted corporate reorganization law in response. This will reveal the controlling argument in the book: that it is crucial to analyse the specific adaptations of corporate reorganization law which have emerged from this process of change and to avoid using a conceptual framework for analysis developed in response to historical adaptations of corporate reorganization law.

Sarah Paterson is Professor of Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science where she teaches and researches corporate insolvency and restructuring law. Before joining the LSE, Sarah was a partner in the Restructuring and Insolvency Group of Slaughter and May, with whom she retains a senior consultancy. Sarah publishes widely in the field of corporate insolvency and restructuring law, including her recent monograph Corporate Reorganization Law and Forces of Change (OUP 2020). She is a former president of the Insolvency Lawyers’ Association, a member of the Council and the technical committee of the ILA, and a member of III and the General Technical Committee of R3.

This person will be live in G24.
