The Cambridge University Human Rights Law Society will be hosting Sir Jeffrey Jowell QC virtually this Friday at 15:00-16:00.

SIR JEFFREY JOWELL QC is the author of leading publications in the area of public law and has assisted in the drafting of a number of national constitutions. He is a practising barrister at Blackstone Chambers and Emeritus Professor of Public Law at University College London. From 2010-15 he was the Founder-Director of the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law and from 2000-2011 the UK’s member on the Council of Europe’s Commission for Democracy through Law (known as ‘The Venice Commission’). He has received a number of honorary degrees and awards and was knighted in 2011 for his contribution to “democracy, human rights and the rule of law”.

He will be talking about the Rule of Law, our British Constitution and the position of Human Rights in the UK as well as addressing a key issue of Constitutional Law - we are very lucky to have him!
