Wolfson College CambridgeApplications are invited for a fixed-term, full-time post as College Teaching Officer in Law to commence on 1 September 2021 (or as soon as possible thereafter, but not later than 1 October 2021).  Wolfson College seeks to appoint an early-career scholar with an active research programme and a commitment to teaching excellence.   Intended to offer an early-career scholar the opportunity to develop a competitive teaching and research portfolio, the post is tenable for a fixed term of five years and is neither extendable nor renewable.

The successful candidate will be elected to a Fellowship in Wolfson College, to run coterminously with their appointment as College Teaching Officer, and will be expected to take an active role in the intellectual life and governance of the College.

The College Teaching Officer will be required to pursue their own research, to direct studies in Law and to provide 200 hours of small-group teaching (supervisions) for undergraduates, distributed across the 20 weeks of the teaching year.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Law or expect to complete all requirements for the PhD before the start date.

Relevant teaching experience is essential, as is the ability to provide academic guidance and support to undergraduates who come from a wide range of backgrounds.  Applicants must be able to offer teaching in at least one of the following subjects: Constitutional Law, Civil (Roman) Law, Law of Contract, Criminal Law, Law of Trusts (Equity), Land Law or Law of Tort.  Preference will be given to candidates who are able to offer teaching in two or more of these subjects.  The ability to offer teaching for Human Rights Law would also be welcome.

The initial salary will be set between points 41-45 on the University Single Salary Spine (currently £32,816-£36,914), depending on qualifications and experience, with annual increments up to a maximum of spine point 48 (currently £40,322), plus an additional stipend for the role of Director of Studies and an annual research allowance of £800.

Further particulars and an application form can be downloaded from the Wolfson College website.

Applications close at 12 noon on Monday, 5 July 2021.
