Lord Carnwath with studentsOn 6 May, students taking the Advanced Property and Trusts paper on the LLM spent the afternoon presenting their work to Lord Robert Carnwath, former justice of the UK Supreme Court and Yorke Distinguished Visiting Fellow.

The programme for the afternoon involved each student presenting on a key case in property or trusts law, and discussing its significance with the judge. The Advanced Property and Trusts paper was a new addition on the LLM for the 2025-6 teaching year, convened by Dr Lorren Eldridge, who also organised the event. The paper benefits from teaching by a range of experts including Professor Louise Gullifer, Professor Sinéad Agnew, Dr Ernesto Vargas-Weil, Dr Fleur Stolker and Ms Amy Goymour, and the workshop was an excellent way to round off a year of in depth study of English property and trusts law by students from a wide range of common and civil law jurisdictions.
