Panpailin is a PhD candidate in law at the University of Cambridge, where she is studying as a Gates Cambridge Scholar. Her research focuses on the protection of future generations in international law, under the supervision of Dr Rumiana Yotova and Professor Jorge E. Viñuales. She is also currently Managing Editor of the Cambridge International Law Journal.
Prior to her doctoral studies, Panpailin served as a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, where she most recently acted as lead negotiator for Thailand on legal and institutional issues in several free trade agreement negotiations. She has represented Thailand to the Sixth (Legal) Committee of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and was part of the Thai counsel team before the International Court of Justice. She has also worked as research assistant to H.E. Dr. Vilawan Mangklatanakul at the International Law Commission.
Panpailin holds the Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford (Distinction; Volterra Fietta Prize for best performance in International Law of the Sea), where she studied as a Royal Thai Government Scholar. She also holds an LL.B. (First Class Honours) from Queen Mary, University of London, where she studied on the Royal Thai Government Scholarship and the Queen Mary School of Law Scholarship, and received multiple prizes for academic excellence.
