CTDGCambridge Tax Discussion Group brings together students, academics, practitioners and policymakers to discuss topics relating to tax. The Group was co-founded by Dr May Hen and Professor Dominic de Cogan in 2015. It is currently run by doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at the Faculty.

The primary events the Group organises are tax seminars and, occasionally, tax-themed social events. Seminars that the Group hosts are multidisciplinary and not limited to law; papers in disciplines such as sociology, economics, politics, history and business have been presented at the Group. All events that the Group organises now take place in person during the University term time. Everyone is welcome to attend. Information about these events is published on the Group’s LinkedIn page. If you are interested in presenting your work at the Group, please get in touch with one of the co-conveners.

Career Development Tax PhD Workshop (18 June 2025)

This is an invitation to PhD students who research tax-related topics to participate in a one-day “career development” workshop. The primary purpose of this workshop is for participating students to hear advice from experienced tax academics to help the students prepare for a future tax academic career. It is also hoped that this workshop can provide an opportunity for tax PhD students to connect with each other.
