Tuesday, 24 January 2017 - 7.30pm
Location:
Clare College, Latimer Room

The Human Rights Act has hit the headlines in the last few years with extravagant claims on both sides about what this piece of legislation is responsible for. Now the government looks set to replace the HRA with a new British Bill of Rights, this panel discussion takes a look at the reality behind the claims and answers the question 'what is all the fuss about?'

The event will take place in the Latimer Room in Clare College, Cambridge University beginning at 7.30pm and lasting approximately an hour and a half.

We are delighted to be hosting a wide range of viewpoints on this issue, including Dr Alexander Williams, a lecturer in Law at Durham University, Luke Gittos, legal editor for Spiked, Simon John, leader of the Amnesty group in Thetford, Rachel Logan, Law and Human Rights Programme Director at Amnesty, and David Verghase, undergraduate student at Robinson College and active member of the Fitzwilliam Debating Society.
