Fitzwilliam College Law Society are hosting an Alternative Legal Careers Evening, in the Gordon Cameron Lecture Theatre, Fitzwilliam College on Saturday 28th January, 6:30pm.

Three speakers will give an insight into their work.

Daniel Peat - works as a clerk at the International Court of Justice in the Hague. Daniel provides research and other legal assistance to one of the judges at the Court. The ICJ has ruled on many controversial issues, such as the construction of a separation barrier by Israel in occupied Palestinian territory, Japan’s involvement in whaling programmes and allegations of genocide against Croatia and Serbia in the Balkans War.

Jessica Uguccioni - works for the Law Commission, an independent body tasked with reforming the law in England and Wales. Recently the Law Commission has been involved in proposing reforms to the law on search warrants, criminal records disclosure, surrogacy and elections.

Augusta Itua - is a youth advocate for Just For Kids Law. Just For Kids Law was founded after its directors realised that children in the youth justice system have complex needs, which often remain unresolved after criminal proceedings. Just For Kids Law seeks to change this by providing support, advice and legal representation to young people.
