Friday, 5 May 2017 - 12.30pm
Location:
Alison Richard Building, SG2

Join us this Friday 5 May for a talk by Bede Sheppard, Deputy Director of the Children’s Rights Division of Human Rights Watch. Sheppard specializes in the issues of attacks on students, teachers, and schools, as well as the military use of schools. He has conducted investigations and advocacy on a broad range of countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Japan, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine, and Yemen. Prior to working at Human Rights Watch, Sheppard worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Croatia, and as an attorney with a Washington DC law firm, conducting field investigations into human rights abuses in Indonesia and South Africa.

This talk is part of the Centre of Governance and Human Rights Events series. It is intended to provide a forum for students and researchers, particularly those who may be interested in pursuing a career in the ’Third Sector,’ to ask questions about what this work involves. Please feel free to bring your lunch.
