Cambridge University Law SocietySpeaker: Ms. Corey Stoughton – Advocacy Director, Liberty

Before joining Liberty, Ms Corey Stoughton was senior counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the U.S Department of Justice under President Obama. She worked at the New York affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, where she litigated on a broad range of US constitutional and human rights issues.

In the talk, Ms Stoughton will address the reasons why the tradition of strategic litigation is strong in America, and the important lessons from decades of strategic litigation in the U.S. She will also assess how we can strengthen the tradition of strategic litigation in the United Kingdom, and how Liberty is working to do that right now.

Refreshments will follow the talk.
