"Quotation and the Law"

Professor Lionel Bently will be talking at Wolfson College on Tuesday, February 6th.

In 2014, the UK introduced a new exception to copyright that permits "fair dealing" by way of "quotation." But what is "quotation"? Reviewing the broad array of activities that cultural commentators (eg art historians, film critics and musicologists) refer to as "quotation," In his talk Lionel Bently will argue that the new exception could cover a very wide range of expressive and transformative uses.

The talk is at 6pm in the Gatsby Room, Chancellor's Centre, Wolfson College.  It is part of the lecture series organised by the Wolfson Humanities Society.
