Paper submissions are welcomed for this upcoming student-led conference, which will take place in the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law by kind permission of the Faculty. Papers may be submitted on any topic falling under the above title, including but not limited to:

  • The development of abortion as an human right
  • The impact of brexit on abortion law across the UK and Ireland
  • Dialogue between the European Court of Human Rights and national courts in abortion cases
  • The influence of UN standards in EU/non-EU countries in abortion cases
  • The impact of anti-discrimination laws on abortion provision
  • Disparity in provision for abortion rights between the European Convention on Human Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union
  • The upcoming referendum on the Eighth Amendment of the Irish Constitution

The conference will take place in the Faculty on 28th September 2018.

Abstracts should be submitted to abortionrightsconference@gmail.com by March 15th 2018, and selected participants will be notified by April 1st 2018. Abstracts should be no more than 600 words. Late submissions will not be considered, and a conference registration fee will apply.

Applications from PhD and early career researchers are warmly welcomed. Any further questions may be submitted via email. The Conference Committee also welcomes correspondence from parties wishing to sponsor the conference or offer donation.
