Thursday, 6 December 2018 - 5.30pm
Location:
Institute of Criminology, Boardroom

Speaker: Dr Izabela Zych, Associate Professor, University of Córdoba

This seminar focuses on school bullying and cyberbullying, two types of harmful antisocial behaviours that are present in schools. The nature and dynamics of bullying and cyberbullying are described, together with factors that protect children from bullying and cyberbullying. This specific analysis of strengths, rather than weaknesses, builds on the current literature and research with a new positive focus. This seminar synthesizes the newest research on the topic, reviewing recent meta-analyses and research syntheses, together with empirical findings, to provide a global vision on what is being done and what can be done to protect children from bullying and cyberbullying. Findings from the more common cross-sectional studies are described together with the results from newer prospective longitudinal studies that are uncovering causal relations. Thus, this seminar aims to present a comprehensive overview on protecting children and adolescents from bullying and cyberbullying.

A drinks reception in the basement foyer will follow this seminar for attendees.

This seminar is open to all interested in attending, with no ticket required.
