Online webinar

The Lawyers Without Borders Cambridge University Division are hosting a speaker event called 'Get to Know UK Legal Charities'. We have invited David Abbott from the Free Representation Unit, Allegra Angelica Enefer, and Charmaine Clubb from Advocate to speak to us about the importance of legal charities in the UK justice system. They will be introducing their organisations, sharing their experiences of working at their respective legal charities, and explaining any current obstacles regarding legal aid cuts and Covid-19.

The Free Representation Unit has been providing representation in social security and employment tribunals. Advocate matches members of the public who need free legal help with volunteer barristers.

Speakers:

  • Mr. David Abbott - Chief Executive Officer of Free Representation Unit
  • Ms. Allegra Angelica Enefer - caseworker at Advocate
  • Ms. Charmaine Clubb - former caseworker at Advocate, current family law pupil barrister, Cambridge alumna

Please sign up by 9th February at midnight. Students will be sent a Zoom link and password by email.

Please contact Vicky Chiu at mhc41@cam.ac.uk for any queries about the event.
