Online webinar

Selwyn Law Society will be hosting an online webinar with Chris Daw KC and Professor John Spencer. We will discuss whether and why the criminal justice system is in crisis and what can be done to alleviate some of the problems currently faced.

Chris Daw KC has spent 30-years at the criminal bar and is now at Millennium Chambers. Alongside, regularly appearing on TV and radio, he has recently published the bestselling book ‘Justice on Trial’ where he outlines the reforms he feels are necessary to improve the criminal justice system.

Professor Spencer KC has spent almost 50-years in the Cambridge Law Faculty, first as a student at Selwyn, and then as a fellow of Selwyn and Murray Edwards. The Squire has recently added him to their ‘eminent scholars archive’ amongst other things for his work on comparative criminal law, and reforming criminal procedure in regard to children.

Many of the topics discussed will be directly relevant to the topics examined in the undergraduate papers on Criminal Law, CSPS and CPE. Alongside also being of general interest for those concerned about the state of the criminal justice, and how best these issued may be tackled.

There will also be an opportunity to submit questions to both speakers at the event.

The event will be held on Thursday 16th February, at 7-8pm. Please join on Zoom to attend.
