Thursday, 2 May 2024 - 6.30pm
Location:
St John's College, Lightfoot Room

The Cambridge Climate Society will be launching the first ever edition of our student research journal The Cambridge Journal of Climate Research on Thursday 2nd May, 18:30 in the Lightfoot Room, St John's College.

With diverse articles on topics ranging from climate law to carbon credits and mining practices, the organisers hope to have something for everyone. They have a foreword by Sir David King, who will give a talk at the launch event. Attendees will also get an exciting opportunity to meet all the article authors at the event and there will be space for networking afterwards.

Sir David King is the founder and chair of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group and founder of the Centre for Climate Repair at Cambridge. Previously he held the position of permanent Special Representative for Climate Change for the UK from September 2013 until March 2017. He was the UK Government’s Chief Scientific Advisor from 2000 to 2007, during which time he raised awareness of the need for governments to act on climate change and was instrumental in creating the Energy Technologies Institute.

Students can register to come in-person or online. Sign up is optional but helps the organisers estimate numbers.
