Wednesday, 12 February 2025 - 5.00pm
Location:
Alison Richard Building, SG1

Speaker: Matthew Gillet (Senior Lecturer at the University of Essex and a United Nations Special Mandate Holder (Chair-Rapporteur of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention))

Previously, Matthew worked for around 15 years prosecuting international crimes cases in the Hague. He writes on Ecocide, Human Rights, Speech Crimes and International Criminal Law. In 2022, he published his monograph Prosecuting Environmental Harm before the International Criminal Court (CUP), and has won multiple awards for his research.

The CGHR Practitioner Series allows students to hear from and ask questions of high-level experts working in international politics, journalism, development and humanitarianism. This will be a rather informal event which will allow lots of time for students to ask questions and learn from Matthews experience.

The event is free and everyone is welcome, but for organisational reasons registration is required: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cghr-practitioner-series-meet-a-united-na...
