Speaker: Professor Rumu Sarkar (NC 1983)

Professor Rumu Sarkar is an Adjunct Law Professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Cleveland, Ohio. She will talk about her work in International Development and her career path, including how she became involved in the field.

Professor Sarkar launched the International Development Law (IDL) Lab in Fall 2024, where her law students support the work of social impact investment organizations and private equity firms in Africa and Asia. These pro bono clients of the IDL Lab finance women's empowerment, climate resiliency and other projects that are designed to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Professor Sarkar is a member of the Bars of New York, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Supreme Court. She completed her Master of Law (LL.M.), and her Ph.D. in Law at Newnham College. She was awarded a Fulbright (Specialist) Scholarship as an expert in international law.
