This Conference is co-organized by the Academy of Łomża (Akademia Łomżyńska) and the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law. It is devoted to Professor Bohdan Winiarski: lawyer, academic and ICJ Judge (1946-1967; President of the Court 1961-1964). Judge Winiarski’s academic and judicial career had its first roots in Łomża, a town in the north-eastern region of Masovia, Poland, where he attended high school.
The Conference will feature three panels. Panel 1 will be devoted to the formative years of Bohdan Winiarski and his career as an academic at the University of Poznań. Panel 2 will discuss his legacy as a Judge of the International Court of Justice. Panel 3 will cover selected issues of Roman law and public international law, in light of Bohdan Winiarski’s views and publications.
This event is being held from 2 pm to 6.35 pm at the Lauterpacht Centre.
The Conference will be conducted in Polish.
