CEENRG Thursday seminars: 'Climate politics in the shadow of war'

The Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy, and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG) is hosting a seminar series throughout the 2025-26 academic year.

As sustainability reporting regulation recalibrates, financial institutions face a growing blind spot: disclosures alone cannot reveal whether corporate transition plans are credible. This talk argues that transition intelligence must move beyond narratives toward granular, asset-level data and AI-driven system models of corporate activity. Rather than relying on reported targets, it presents a bottom-up approach that reconstructs corporate activity across assets, operations, and capital allocation to independently assess emissions trajectories and financial risk. Drawing on work at Forward Analytics, the presentation highlights how granular, asset-level data enables scalable, forward-looking analysis across portfolios. It discusses insights, challenges and implications for financial risk management, capital allocation, and supervision.
