We discuss the structure of the undergraduate Law course at Cambridge and the different steps of the university application process for Law, providing advice and guidance for each one. The webinar finishes with a Q&A featuring current Cambridge students.

10 February 2025: Applying to Cambridge Law as a mature student

We are joined by admissions staff from Cambridge’s mature colleges in a discussion about how to apply to Cambridge as a mature student.

11 February 2025: The Law personal statement

The Faculty Outreach, Widening Participation and Communications Coordinator Maria Kazani discusess personal statements for Law: what they are, how to make them effective using super-curricular evidence, and the suggested timelines for planning and writing if you are applying to Cambridge or Oxford.

17 February 2025: The Cambridge Law interview

The Faculty Outreach, Widening Participation and Communications Coordinator Maria Kazani is joined by Mr Nabil Khabirpour (Director of Studies, Lucy Cavendish College) to discuss Cambridge Law interviews, including how they are structured, what their purpose is, and how students can prepare. Nabil shares his experiences conducting interviews and explain what qualities colleges are looking for in applicants.

The Faculty Outreach, Widening Participation and Communications Coordinator Maria Kazani is joined by a panel comprising Cambridge alumni who are now practising either as solicitors or barristers. They outlined the differences between these two career tracks, explain the academic/professional requirements, and help viewers to decide which one is right for them.

3 March 2025: Internships, vacation schemes, and training contracts: what firms are looking for

The Faculty Outreach, Widening Participation and Communications Coordinator Maria Kazani is joined by a panel comprising representatives of Slaughter and May, who discussed the benefits of internships, vacation schemes, and training contracts, and how they can be applied for.

10 March 2025: Exploring legal career pathways for non-Law graduates

The Faculty Outreach, Widening Participation and Communications Coordinator Maria Kazani is joined by a panel comprising representatives of Hogan Lovells, who did not study Law but are working in the legal field. They discussed how non-Law degrees can be applied to a career in law and what the process is like. The speakers reflected on their personal experiences of why they decided to go into law, as well as how they experienced converting and now working in the field.

17 March 2025: Non-legal career pathways for Law graduates

The Faculty Outreach, Widening Participation and Communications Coordinator Maria Kazani is joined by a panel of alumni speakers, each having studied Law at Cambridge and gone on to do non-law and unconventional careers. The session demonstrates the transferrable skills of a Law degree.
