Online examinations for students sitting the Examination in Law for European Students (ELES) will take place in Easter Term. Students who are sitting the Examination in Law for European Students should consult the page for Part IA and Part IB students. In general, the arrangements for Part IA and IB students will also apply to students sitting the Examination in Law for European Students. This means that such students will be required to answer fewer questions than normal in each paper, that assessment will be on an open-book basis, and that a word limit will apply. With the exception of two papers, ELES students will have to answer three questions (rather than the usual four) with a word limit of 3,750 words. This will be the case for any papers taken by ELES students irrespective of whether these are Part IA, Part IB or Part II papers in the Law Tripos. There will only be two exceptions.

The exceptions are Paper 37 (Jurisprudence) in which ELES students will be required to answer two questions (rather than the usual three) with a word limit of 3,750 words and any Paper 49 (half-paper) in which they will be required to answer two questions (rather than the usual three) with a word limit of 2,350 words. As is normally the case, students sitting the Examination in Law for European Students will not be classed.

Visiting students should follow the same guidance as students who are sitting the Examination in Law for European Students.

Where an ELES or other visiting student is taking a Part II Seminar Paper, they should consult the section of the Part II FAQs dealing with dissertations.
