I am researching the UK’s implementation of adverse European Court of Human Rights judgments, that is those judgments where the UK government has lost the case and so is required to give effect to the resulting judgment. I am doing this in two parts, looking at the procedures and decision-making at both the international level, specifically the Council of Europe, and the domestic level within the UK.

I am investigating these processes using an empirical, mixed methods approach combining qualitative analysis of a database which I have compiled, qualitative methods such as interviews, and close reading of publicly-available documents.
