Léa Weimann is a PhD researcher in the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge, specialising in international environmental and climate change law. Her research focuses on emerging ecocentric legal frameworks, including rights of nature and ecocide law. At Cambridge, she is the Executive Director of the Cambridge Pro Bono Project, coordinating and contributing to high impact legal initiatives. Internationally, she also co-leads the Youth for Ecocide Law branch of Stop Ecocide International. As a UN delegate, Léa has represented youth voices and legal solutions for change at major climate conferences including Stockholm+50, COP27, COP28 and the UNFCCC SB58 conference.
She also brings over five years of experience in climate change communication, including hosting and producing radio shows and podcasts. Her passion for environmental advocacy extends to her creative work, having published Dear Earth, a poetry collection that combines art and advocacy. She is also a published researcher on sustainable governance in healthcare and has co-authored a book and several articles on the subject.
In her spare time, Léa publishes Legal Wednesdays on LinkedIn, a weekly newsletter providing insights into international environmental and climate law developments. She invites readers to join the conversation and collaborate on legal solutions to the global climate crisis. Léa's research and advocacy is driven by a deep commitment to using the law to address the climate and biodiversity crises and ensure a habitable planet for all.
