Please join us for Philip Wood's lecture, which will touch on his new book "The fall of the priests and the rise of the lawyers", as well as Brexit.
Philip Wood CBE QC (hon), Allen & Overy's Special Global Counsel, is one of the world's leading experts in comparative and cross-border financial law, a celebrated speaker, a well-known writer and a highly experienced practitioner.
He was a partner at A&O from 1973 to 2002, heading the firm's banking department for ten years during that period. His 40 years' experience at the firm includes almost every aspect of international banking and finance. A&O still benefits from that incredible experience today, through Philip's roles as London-based Special Global Counsel, and as Head of A&O's Global Law Intelligence Unit.
Philip pioneered a method of measuring financial law according to key indicators and is particularly well known for his colour-coded global law maps. He has developed a methodology for legal risk ratings of the jurisdictions of the world with regard to both their written law and the application of law.
He has written around 18 books and holds academic posts at three of the UK's top universities. He's Visiting Professor in International Financial Law at the University of Oxford; Yorke Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge; and a Visiting Professor at Queen Mary College, University of London.
