The Panel

Nicola Carr, University of Nottingham. Teacher and Researcher. Nicola is co-chair of the European Society of Criminology's Working Group on Community Sanctions and Measures. She edits the Probation Journal and is a member of the editorial board of the Irish Probation Journal. Nicola was a management committee member of the COST Action on Offender Supervision in Europe (2012–2016) and previously worked as a probation officer in London.

Ioan Durnescu, University of Bucharest. Teacher and Researcher. Ioan’s research interests include prisons, parole and probation. He is co-editor of the European Journal of Probation and a former board member of the Confederation of European Probation. Ioan was also a management committee member of the COST Action on Offender Supervision in Europe (2012–2016).

Bronwen Elphick, Durham Tees Valley Community Rehabilitation Company (DTV CRC). Bronwen has been the Chief Executive Officer of DTV CRC since its inception in June 2014. DTV CRC is the only CRC owned by a consortia of local organisations including local authorities, charities, a mental health trust and a philanthropic social investor, with a not for profit stance in the current CRC landscape. Bronwen has extensive experience as a senior manager and practitioner in the probation service. Her interests include evidence-based practice, desistance and community-based rehabilitation services.

Gwen Robinson, University of Sheffield. Teacher and Researcher. Gwen’s recent research has focused on the impacts on probation services of the Transforming Rehabilitation reforms. She is a member of the editorial advisory group of the British Journal of Criminology and an editorial board member of the Probation Journal. She was also a management committee member of the COST Action on Offender Supervision in Europe.
