Tuesday, 18 February 2020 - 5.00pm
Location:
Newnham College, Barbara White Room

In this sharing and workshop session, CUHRLS brings together academic and activist perspectives to discuss legal implications and first-hand experience of environmental activism and activism more generally. Ms Stevie Martin, Dr Jason Scott-Warren and student activists will have a candid conversation about the right to protest and how one can be aware of one’s rights in climate activism.

Stevie is a Lecturer in Public Law here at Cambridge. Her research focus is on human rights law. Jason Scott-Warren is a fellow in English at Gonville and Caius, who was arrested and convicted for taking part in Extinction Rebellion protests in London. Sophia Georgescu and Rose Sargent are undergraduate students active on the climate protest scene, affiliated with movements like Extinction Rebellion and Zero Carbon Cambridge.
