Online webinar

Please join us for our next event in the Talking Animals, Law & Philosophy series.

Speaker: Claire Jean Kim (Professor of Political Science and Asian American Studies, University of California, Irvine)

Claire Jean Kim is Professor of Political Science and Asian American Studies at the University of California, Irvine, where she teaches classes on race, politics, and human-animal studies. She is the author of two award-winning books: Bitter Fruit: The Politics of Black-Korean Conflict (Yale University Press) and Dangerous Crossings: Race, Species, and Nature in a Multicultural Age (Cambridge University Press).

How do we think about the fight for animals in relation to a contemporary political context where fascist ideologies are on the rise? In exploring this question, I want to take seriously the possibility that the fight for animals as presently constituted reproduces a particular form of racial violence that contributes to, or has the potential to contribute to, the fascist surge.

All events take place on Zoom from 5-6.30pm (UK time). They are free and open to all. For more information about the Talking Animals series and to register for the events, visit www.animalrightslaw.org/talkinganimals
