Trinity College and the Cambridge Centre for Public Law are delighted to present a lecture by Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, entitled 'India 2047: Law and Politics in the World’s Largest Democracy'.

Dr Singhvi is a leading Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and is now in his fourth term as a member of the Rajya Sabha (the Council of States, the upper house of the Parliament of India). At one time the youngest Additional Solicitor-General of India, Dr Singhvi has argued a number of significant public law cases in India; he was educated at Harvard and Delhi, as well as in Cambridge, and has been a visiting lecturer at Yale. A high-profile public figure, Dr Singhvi is also a writer, columnist and commentator on a range of subjects including politics, law and social issues.

Dr Singhvi completed a Cambridge PhD supervised by Sir William Wade and continues to support postgraduate study in Law at Cambridge through the Singhvi Trinity Scholarship, named in honour of his father Dr Laxmi Mall Singhvi, also a distinguished jurist, politician, author and diplomat, who served as Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom 1991–1997.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.
