Thursday, 29 May 2025 - 3.00pm
Location:
David Attenborough Building, Room 1.25

Speaker: Dr Lovleen Bhullar (Assistant Professor in Environmental Law, Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge)

The Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy, and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG) is hosting a seminar series throughout the 2023- 24 academic year.

Antimicrobial resistance or AMR refers to the development of resistance to antimicrobials among microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites, and it is recognized as a global health threat. This talk focuses on the emergence of AMR in our waters, which contributes to, and exacerbates, the triple planetary crisis of biodiversity loss, climate change and pollution. I unpack multi-scalar One Health regulation of AMR involving human, animal and environmental health, state and non-state actors as well as binding and non-binding instruments. This talk is situated within the emerging research agenda on a just transition for AMR, thus offering an opportunity to reflect on the similarities and differences between global challenges and on effective and equitable regulatory responses.

Seminars take place as hybrid meetings (in person seminars in the DAB - David Attenborough Building + online in Zoom) every Thursday (please check precise time as may vary) during the term. Please register online to receive the Zoom link on the day of the seminar. Everyone is welcome!
