Applications are invited for the position of Research Assistant/Associate in the Faculty of Law, based at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, 5 Cranmer Road, Cambridge, to work on a research project entitled Legal Tools for Peace-Making, funded by the ESRC. Under the guidance of Professor Marc Weller, and in collaboration with the other team members, the Research Assistant/Associate will be expected to undertake research in relation to internationalised peace-making and the objectives of the Legal Tools for Peace-Making project and contribute towards generating the planned outputs. If the candidate is hired at Research Associate level he/she might be tasked with directing and supervising the work of the project's Research Assistant. As a member of the Centre's research staff, the Research Assistant/Associate will also be expected to play a full and active role in Centre life, promoting the ethos of the Centre, and undertaking other work and duties as required.
Applicants should have a Master's degree in the area of public international law or comparative constitutional law. For the appointment to be made at Research Associate level, the applicant will have a PhD (or be very close to completion). Experience and expertise in peace-making and post-conflict peace-building as well as a background of research in this area would be of advantage. The role also involves some administrative responsibilities, including conference organisation and some work with data.
