Cambridge Alumn Rona Fairhead Appointed Chair of the BBC TrustThe Faculty is delighted to welcome the appointment of St Catharine's graduate and Honorary Fellow Rona Fairhead as the new chair of the BBC Trust, where she replaces Lord Patten who left the position in May.

The former chief executive of the Financial Times Group is to become the first woman to lead the BBC, as the new chair of the BBC Trust, the broadcaster's governing body.

Mrs Fairhead won the Jacobson Law Prize, the Addersley Law Prize, and was President of the University Law Society on the way to her double first law degree. After graduating Cambridge, Mrs Fairhead went on to become Chairman and CEO of the Financial Times Group Limited, and then a non-executive director of banking group HSBC. She also has an MBA from Harvard and sits on the board of PepsiCo, and in 2012 became a CBE, receiving the award for services to UK industry.
