He will succeed St Catharine's graduate Jonathan Scott as Senior Partner.

Herbert Smith Freehills have supported a Faculty Visitor Scheme since 2002, enabling distinguished academics and practitioners from around the world to carry out research, either individually or in collaboration with Faculty members, in Cambridge. The firm has also created a generous bursary scheme for the Masters Degree in Corporate Law (MCL) from which African applicants can benefit.

James Palmer has represented Herbert Smith Freehills on the Faculty's Practitioner Development Advisory Board. He is also a member of the MCL Advisory Board and has contributed to the teaching on the MCL.
