During the Easter vacation, Professor John Spencer was in Brussels as the Ganshof van der Meersch Visiting Professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, where he gave lectures on European criminal law and criminal procedure.
Previous holders of the Ganshof van der Meersch Chair include three other members of the Law Faculty at Cambridge: Philip Allott, John Bell and current Faculty Chair, Richard Fentiman.
Funding and running this Visiting Professorship is one of the activities of the Wiener-Anspach Foundation, a charitable foundation created to promote links between the ULB and Oxbridge, and stemming from the generosity of Mme Wiener, whose name it bears. It also provides funding to enable Oxbridge students to study at the ULB, and vice versa, and supports cooperative projects led by researchers from the three universities.
Further information about the Foundation is available from the Foundation website.
