Dr Mark Elliott appointed legal advisor to House of Lords Constitution CommitteeA senior member of the Faculty of Law has been appointed to an important parliamentary Select Committee. The House of Lords recently appointed Dr Mark Elliott a legal advisor to the Select Committee on the Constitution. Dr Elliott, who in October becomes Professor of Public Law in the Faculty, is one of the country's leading public law scholars. As a legal advisor to the Constitution Committee, he will assist the Committee to examine the constitutional implications of all public bills coming before the House of Lords, and to keep under review the operation of the constitution. The other legal adviser of the Constitution Committee is Professor Stephen Tierney of the Edinburgh Law School.

Apart from his public law scholarship, Dr Elliott has previously presented evidence to the House of Lords Constitution Committee and to the House of Commons Political and Constitutional Reform Committee. He has also submitted responses to several government consultation papers.

More information about Dr Elliott can be found on his Faculty profile page and his blog Public Law for Everyone.
