Practitioner-academic 'roundtable' on prison suicide preventionOn Tuesday 8 September Dr Amy Ludlow and colleagues from the Prisons Research Centre in Cambridge hosted an event that brought together practitioners and academics to explore how more more prison suicides might be prevented.

The event was attended by more than 80 prison and probation staff and managers, coroners, academics and representatives from the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman and Ministry of Justice. Discussions built upon research conducted by the Prisons Research Centre in the field, most recently with RAND Europe as part of The Harris Review into self-inflicted deaths in NOMS' custody among 18-24 year olds. A wide range of practitioners contributed their ideas for policy development and implementation.

The event was supported by the Cambridge Socio-Legal Group. Further events are planned to build upon the day's momentum.
