Professor Jane Ginsburg appointed as the inaugural CIPIL Herchel Smith Visiting Fellow

Professor Jane Ginsburg from Columbia University (NYC) is currently visiting the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law (CIPIL) as the inaugural CIPIL Herchel Smith Visiting Fellow. In that capacity, Jane is teaching on the International IP LLM course and has given a joint talk together with Lionel Bently on 'Fair Quotation and Fair Use: Appropriation Art, Data-mining, and Google Books' as part of the IP Evening Series at Emmanuel College on the 10 November.

Jane Ginsburg has contributed significantly to CIPIL and other IP activities in Cambridge for more than 10 years. She was distinguished Goodhart Visiting Professor in 2004-2005, a Herbert Smith visiting fellow in Michaelmas Term 2008 and co-edited, with Lionel Bently and Jennifer Davis, two books published by Cambridge University Press that resulted from interdisciplinary conferences held at Emmanuel College: Copyright and Piracy - An Interdisciplinary Critique (2010)  and Trade Marks and Brands: An Interdisciplinary Critique (2008).

Jane is also a Honorary Fellow of Emmanuel College and inaugurated, with Lionel Bently, the occasional series of "IP Evenings at Emma".
