The high quality of books resulting from two Cambridge doctorates were recognised by awards in the prestigious Peter Birks Book Prize given by the Society of Legal Scholars at its annual Conference on 7 September 2016.

Jason Varuhas was awarded the first prize for his book "Damages and Human Rights" published by Hart Publishing. Sandy Steel was awarded a runner up prize for his book "Proof of Causation in Tort Law" published by Cambridge University Press. These works resulted from doctorates supervised in the Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge. The supervisors were, respectively, Professor David Feldman and Professor David Ibbetson.
