Kenneth Armstrong wins major research fellowship to study post-Brexit regulation

Professor Kenneth Armstrong (Professor of European Law and Director of the Centre for European Legal Studies (CELS)) has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship for a project entitled: 'The Brexit Effect: Convergence, Divergence and Variation in UK Regulatory Policy'.  The award is for 36 months, commencing from 1 September 2018.

Professor Armstrong is the author of 'Brexit Time: Leaving the EU - Why, How and When?' and also posts regularly on the Brexit Time blog and on Twitter at @ProfKAArmstrong.

Commenting on the award, Professor Armstrong said:

"As the controversy over the post-Brexit border between Ireland and Northern Ireland has highlighted, the issue of regulatory alignment is foremost in the current legal and political debate. I hope that this research will help contribute to that discussion as the UK prepares to leave the EU."

The Leverhulme Trust was established by the will of William Hesketh Lever, the founder of Lever Brothers. Since 1925 they have provided grants and scholarships for research and education and today they are one of the largest all-subject providers of research funding in the UK, distributing approximately £80m a year.
