Richard Fentiman addresses the European Parliament JURI CommitteeProfessor Richard Fentiman has appeared at a hearing of the JURI Committee of the European Parliament.

He was invited to address the Committee on 10 July, and answer questions on the Parliament's proposal for an instrument on 'The Expedited Settlement of Commercial Disputes in the EU'. He did so with Professor Burkhard Hess, Director of the Max Planck Institute in Luxembourg, Professor Giesela Rühl, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, and Prof Sabine Corneloup, Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. He spoke of the reasons why litigants select a forum for resolving commercial disputes, and the difficulty of making a forum attractive for resolving complex disputes merely by introducing expedited procedures.

The hearing is available to stream from the European Parliament website.
