Mark ElliottThe Chair of the Faculty Professor Mark Elliott was invited to give evidence before the House of Lords Constitution Committee on Wednesday 23 September.

Professor Elliott gave evidence alongside Sir Stephen Laws QC (former First Parliamentary Counsel, Cabinet Office), and Sir Franklin Berman QC (former Legal Adviser to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office) as part of the process of legislative scrutiny of the UK Internal Market Bill.

Professor Elliott is Professor of Public Law, Chair of the Faculty Board, and a Fellow of St Catharine's College. From 2015 to 2019, he served as Legal Adviser to the House of Lords Select Committee on the Constitution, providing advice to the Committee on a range of legislative and other legal matters. He is the co-author of two textbooks: the 5th edition of Administrative Law (with Jason Varuhas) was published by Oxford University Press in 2017, and the 4th edition of Public Law (with Robert Thomas) was published in 2020, also by by Oxford University Press. Public Law is the UK's best-selling title in its field. Professor Elliott's blog Public Law for Everyone is a leading source of Constitutional Law commentary.
