The Faculty of Law was pleased to once again host the annual Sutton Trust Summer School in Law on 6-9 August. A group of 27 sixth-form students from around the country attended the week-long course to learn more about university life and the academic study of Law.
The Sutton Trust is a charitable organisation dedicated to increasing social mobility and fighting educational inequality. The Faculty of Law is proud to partner with the Sutton Trust each year to offer this unique educational opportunity.
Participants of this year's summer school course experienced the academic side of university life through a series of lectures and workshops led by academics from the Faculty. The participants' work culminated in a mock murder trial presided over by Professor Graham Virgo, a member of the Faculty.
Other activities included presentations and panel discussions with practising barristers and solicitors from the Faculty's Access and Widening Participation Partners: Maitland Chambers, Clifford Chance, Hogan Lovells, and Slaughter and May. In addition to this unique academic introduction, participants also learned more about student life at the University of Cambridge through activities at their host colleges.
